2. What data we collect

StockMarketCap.eu does not require account registration and does not collect personally identifiable information. The following data may be processed:

  • Server logs — your IP address, browser type, and requested URLs are temporarily recorded by our hosting infrastructure for security and diagnostic purposes.
  • Anonymous analytics — we may collect aggregated, non-identifiable data such as page views and referrer sources to understand how the site is used.
  • Preferences — your display preference (dark/light mode) is stored in your browser's local storage. This data never leaves your device.

3. Legal basis for processing

Processing of server log data is based on our legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) in maintaining site security and performance. No other personal data is processed.

4. Cookies and local storage

We use a single local storage entry to remember your theme preference. This is not a cookie and is not transmitted to our servers. No advertising cookies or cross-site tracking cookies are used.

A cookie consent notice is shown on first visit. Dismissing it stores a small cookie to prevent the notice from reappearing.

5. Third-party services

We use the following third-party services that may process data independently:

  • Vercel — our hosting provider (USA). Processes request metadata including IP addresses under Vercel's own privacy policy.
  • TradingView — interactive charts embedded on stock detail pages are served by TradingView and subject to their privacy policy.
  • Financial data providers — market prices and news are sourced from third-party financial data providers. No personal data is shared with these services.

6. Data retention

Server logs are retained for a maximum of 30 days and are then automatically deleted. Local storage data persists in your browser until you clear it manually.

7. International data transfers

Our hosting infrastructure (Vercel) is based in the United States. Data transfers are carried out under appropriate safeguards in accordance with GDPR Chapter V.

8. Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate data
  • Request erasure of your data
  • Object to or restrict processing
  • Data portability
  • Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)
