Its portfolio also includes plans, produces, and sells character merchandise, manages mobile and computer shopping websites, distributes official content for mobile devices, plans and manages events for motion pictures and theatrical productions, manages restaurants, parking lots, and places of business, and develops music copyright authorization. Founded in 1895 and headquartered in Tokyo, Japan, Shochiku was formerly known as Shochiku Kinema Co., Ltd. before rebranding in 1937.
